My husband surprised me with a vacation trip to California for my birthday this year! It was a great trip that I wanted to share with you all! We were in the bay area for 5 days and each day was something totally different than the last. Although I wish I were still there now, it was a wonderful trip filled with love, laughter, and family.
Wednesday evening after work we drove to Dallas, which is about a 4-hour drive for us (hubby found insanely good airline tickets – check here). We got to Dallas with just enough time that I was able to hit up Nordstrom and Zara, ahhh yes! Where I picked up this skort and this handbag on sale now! Can’t wait to share in future posts with you guys.
Thursday morning we woke up at 4:30am and headed to the DFW airport where we caught our 6:30am flight to Oakland. Once arriving in Oakland at 8:30am Cali time (10:30am CST) my Aunt Gina picked us up from the airport and we went to the cutest waffle diner. From there we headed that afternoon to a couple wineries in Livermore, CA where my Aunt Gina lives. I learned they have over 60 wineries just in Livermore! We visited Concannon, which we really enjoyed. They have a beautiful winery full of different places to sit out and enjoy the views. We then headed over to McGrail where we sat out on the patio-watching people play corn hole and bacci ball with the view of rolling hills in the background. After such a long morning of traveling it was so nice to have the amazing view to relax to.
Friday morning we woke up at 6am and made the 3.5-hour drive to Yosemite National Park. My husband and I have never been and we want to make sure we had a day of outdoor fun. Funny story – my husband only packed one pair of shoes for the trip. He did this because when flying with Spirit you have to pay for a carry on so we somehow squished all of our belongings into a “personal item”. The shoes he brought were a pair of comfortable but decent good-looking shoes – we end up going on a 5 mile off the trail hike where his shoes become increasingly more and more dirty haha! We ended up walking/hiking 9 miles Friday – it was amazing! We saw Half Dome, Yosemite Falls (the tallest in North America) and Mirror Lake. Did I also mention we didn’t take water on our hike and it was 80 degrees that day?!
Saturday we headed to Napa! Our first stop was Domaine Carneros which is sparkling wines/champagne. We then visited Stag’s Leap and Mumm Napa which were fantastic.
Sunday we headed into San Francisco to visit my Uncle Michael and cousin Liz. They spent the day showing us around different parts of the city such as a quick hike around Land’s End and the Mission District.
Monday was our plane ride home so before our afternoon flight we headed back into SF where Austin and I visited the best bakery ever, Tartine, and I shopped at literally the coolest and most tech advanced store I’ve ever been in – Reformation. Ladies, Reformation was amazing. When you walk in you notice an open floor plan where racks of clothing have just one size of each style on the rack. You find what you like and tell the sales associate that is around that you would like to try this on in a small and this in a size 4 etc. You place the clothing back on the floor racks. When your fitting room is ready they let you know. Here comes the cool part. Once in the fitting room they have different lighting you can choose from for whatever fits your mood or skin tone. They have a cord to plug in your IPhone and listen to your favorite jams while trying stuff on! The clothing that you want to try on is all placed within this closet in your fitting room. If you need an additional size or would like to try on other things there is a touchscreen TV in your fitting room, probably 40 inches, that you scroll through the website and click “try on.” Close the closet doors in your fitting room and a sales associate places your new items in your closet. The TV then tells you to open your closet and that the new clothing items are available to try on. Can you believe that? I’ve never had such a cool shopping experience as that and on top of it all the sales associates were very friendly and the clothing is fashion forward while also being eco-friendly. I purchased this and this and can’t wait to show you in future blog posts! In the meantime check out their website here. I was my normal sizes.
A few weeks ago I had the amazing opportunity to model for a boho inspired floral bridal photo shoot. It was such a fun day and brought me back to my (very fast) days as a soon-to-be bride! Many of you don’t know the story of how my husband and I got together so I’ll sum it up! Austin and I met our freshman year of high school. We dated for 3 weeks in 9th grade but I promptly broke up with him when he asked me to kiss him. I’d never kissed anyone before so I was too scared and broke up with him…well I had my friend break up with him for me, SO terrible I know but I was young! Anyway we remained friends through high school and each year had one or two classes together where we were class buddies. After High School, Austin went off to ORU for school and I went to OSU. We didn’t really keep it touch much through college other than a few texts or run-ins here or there. I never thought anything about it. After finishing my degree in three years (one year less than Austin, and I still let him know I’m smarter than him 😉 I moved to Tulsa for a management position at Dillard’s while Austin was entering into his senior year at ORU. One day, our moms saw each other at the gym when my mom mentioned I had just moved to Tulsa. Later that week, Austin’s mom mentioned to Austin that I was in town and he should ask me to coffee. Being a respectful son, and wanting to honor his mother, he asked me out to coffee. Sometimes moms just know things I guess 😉
We met up a few days later at a local coffee shop (Shades of Brown if you’re familiar with Tulsa). I didn’t know whether this was a date or a friend thing, since I hadn’t seen Austin as anything other than friends in such a long time. He asked to pick me up but the feminist-independent woman in me suggested I’d just meet him there! I get to the coffee shop and walk right past him not noticing him, he says my name and bam! We locked eyes and after 4 hours of amazing conversation we left saying we’d do it again. I went home to my apartment that night where I had a couple friends staying over and they asked if it was a date or not to which I replied “I don’t know but I’m in love with him.” We continued hanging out as friends his senior year and made it official that spring. We were engaged that September and married in November. I married my best friend.
But back to this great photo shoot I was able to be a part of! If you’re getting married soon check out www.JessicaLynnTucker.com and her Instagram, as she is amazingly talented! She was such a joy to work with!
Poppy’s Garden provided this beautiful bouquet for the shoot. She also did the flowers for my wedding as well! She has such a creative eye and is on top of the floral trends. Check her out at www.poppys-garden.com and her Instagram!

With Valentine’s Day coming up I thought I’d share a chic date night look I love to wear. This is a great outfit for going out anytime this winter season for date night, dinner, drinks, etc. I especially love the lace floral detailing mixed with the bell sleeve. I love incorporating bell sleeves into my wardrobe as they can be such a stylish piece. When temperatures drop I like to pair this outfit with my black leather jacket (on sale). Check out how else I style the jacket here! This black leather jacket has become a staple piece of my fall and winter wardrobes.
This weekend we’re heading to Dallas to celebrate my hubby’s birthday along with Valentine’s Day! So you know what that means, Nordstrom shopping oh yea! I can’t wait to see what kind of things I find. I’m like a kid in a candy store there. I’m looking for some great pieces to add to my spring wardrobe. Let’s be honest, my spring wardrobe is the largest. Floral and pastels are my thing, what can I say!
We’re looking for some great restaurants and brunch spots to hit up, so comment below if you know of any! We’ve also heard that the Bishop Arts District in Dallas is a must see so we’ll definitely be checking out that area of town.

Merry Christmas Eve! I’m double blogging about velvet. Velvet has been a major trend in 2016. I have to admit I’ve been a fan for a few years. I purchased this red velvet dress from Dillard’s a couple of years ago. I remember first wearing it and receiving so many compliments. I felt I was dressed as a Christmas present all wrapped up! I wore this last Christmas Eve and I’ll be wearing it tomorrow for Christmas day! Sorry family for the duplicate family Christmas photos! This has been such a great holiday outfit for me. I like pairing this dress with lace tights each year to give even more detail to my look! Scroll down to see yesterday’s blog post where I talked about the use of different prints and trends in your outfit.
Well I’m off to help my mom in the kitchen this morning! I’ll be making cake balls for our Christmas Eve party with the hubby’s family tonight. What Christmas plans are you forward to? What holiday outfits are you looking forward to wearing this season? I hope all of you have a wonderful Merry Christmas.

I’m finally able to post again! The back office of my blog had been down for the last couple weeks so thankfully it’s back up in time just for the holidays (thank you to my tech savvy hubby). I’ll be sharing my holiday looks today and also tomorrow which is Christmas Eve!
Happy Christmas Eve Eve! Wow the temps have definitely dropped since I last posted. I wore this outfit in the 30’s. I also wore this on Thanksgiving Day during all of our family festivities. What I love about this particular outfit is the many different textures. I’m wearing velvet on top; leather, lace and suede on the bottom. Talk about a fashion crisis! Despite such an array of textures, I’ve never felt anything but confident in this outfit. *Take notes here – mixing textures is a good thing, a very good thing. It’s a risk that shows your confidence and adds a personal touch to your style.
Examples to try in your own closet:
Leather skirt with cotton or cashmere sweater; or your favorite band’s t-shirt
Velvet skirt with Metallic cotton top
Denim with a velvet top and metallic jacket
Denim with a chiffon shirt (this is a current trend)
Lace top and velvet bottoms or stay safe with denim on bottom
Textures that are huge this winter season:
Has anyone seen the new Fashion Color of the Year for 2017? Well that’s going to be interesting. I look sick in this color so stay tuned to see how I try to incorporate it this next year into my personal wardrobe!
P.S. Sorry about the wrinkled skirt, I wore this all day before taking the pictures and didn’t realize it was so wrinkled until I saw these pictures!

Happy Friday! For many of you your workweek is ending and you’re looking forward to a relaxing weekend. I however, have a huge work event this weekend that I’m so excited for, but know I’ll be absolutely exhausted by the time the weekend has come to an end.
Anyway, let’s talk about fashion! I purchased this Betsey Johnson dress about two years ago, after wearing it in a fashion show. At the time, it was around $200 full—price, which was way out of my budget. I waited until it was more than 50% off before purchasing. I’m so glad I did. I’ve probably worn this dress 20-25 times. I love it.
At that time bell sleeves were a risky, yet confident-in-your-style kind of decision to make. I enjoy taking risks with my style, in hopes of showing other women pieces they can add to their wardrobe. Now bell-sleeves are all the rage! This Spring and Summer was huge for the style. Every fashion blogger was wearing them and they were in every store I walked into. Isn’t it funny how trends from the 60’s and 70’s are such a hit this year? Although my dress is no longer available, I have linked the cream version here and I’ve added similar styles below.

Happy Fall! Oklahoma weather is so bizarre. Within a three day period the weather will go from 90 degrees to 60 degrees and rainy. Fall seems to be a hit and miss situation so far around here. I’ve been on a six-week hiatus but I’m back! So nearing towards the end of October I am happy to be sharing my fall inspirations with you!
I purchased this leather jacket from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, which seems to be ages ago, and this is the first time I’ve been able to break it in. It is a staple piece among bloggers this fall and winter at a great price! This jacket is thick so I know I’ll be wearing it into the winter months. Are leather jackets a part of your fall wardrobe? How do you like to style yours? In this post I styled mine with a super soft t-shirt style dress (pick up at Dolce Vita in Tulsa). I definitely will be styling this jacket in many more ways to come so stay tuned!

Happy Friday! I’m currently writing from beautiful Colorado Springs! I’ve got to say this is much prettier than Oklahoma. The mountains are gorgeous here, although nothing beats the Oklahoma sunsets. This week, my husband and I have been staying with his sister Bonnie (pictured above) and her husband. Bonnie and I work together for her father’s company. They’ve been so kind by opening up their home to us and showing us all the great local coffee shops, restaurants, nature sites, and of course boutiques. We took these pictures at the famous Broadmoor Hotel in The Springs. I’ve never been to a hotel this gorgeous in my life. If you’re ever in the area you’ll definitely want to check it out and if your pocket book is bursting at the seams, try staying a weekend there. It’s crazy beautiful and romantic.
Like I said, this past weekend Bonnie showed me around a few boutiques here and there. One place in particular she took me to was a stylish new shop called erbn Boutique. It’s where Bonnie picked up the duster she’s wearing in the photos above. Doesn’t she look gorgeous?! They have the cutest pieces and get new merchandise in DAILY!
In other news we’re loving Colorado but we’ve had a few set-backs this week. My husband and I planned on going backpacking for a few days around Telluride and 1 hour into the 5 hour drive our Subaru overheated. Luckily after it cooled down we were able to drive it slowing over to a car shop where they told us we blew a head gasket and it’d be $2300 and a few days to fix. Through the tedious process of determining what to do and how we would get home, my husband and I both came down with terrible colds that day. We’re just so thankful to have family to lean on during this tough week. I guess we’ll just need to have a re-do vacation!
