My husband surprised me with a vacation trip to California for my birthday this year! It was a great trip that I wanted to share with you all! We were in the bay area for 5 days and each day was something totally different than the last. Although I wish I were still there now, it was a wonderful trip filled with love, laughter, and family.
Wednesday evening after work we drove to Dallas, which is about a 4-hour drive for us (hubby found insanely good airline tickets – check here). We got to Dallas with just enough time that I was able to hit up Nordstrom and Zara, ahhh yes! Where I picked up this skort and this handbag on sale now! Can’t wait to share in future posts with you guys.
Thursday morning we woke up at 4:30am and headed to the DFW airport where we caught our 6:30am flight to Oakland. Once arriving in Oakland at 8:30am Cali time (10:30am CST) my Aunt Gina picked us up from the airport and we went to the cutest waffle diner. From there we headed that afternoon to a couple wineries in Livermore, CA where my Aunt Gina lives. I learned they have over 60 wineries just in Livermore! We visited Concannon, which we really enjoyed. They have a beautiful winery full of different places to sit out and enjoy the views. We then headed over to McGrail where we sat out on the patio-watching people play corn hole and bacci ball with the view of rolling hills in the background. After such a long morning of traveling it was so nice to have the amazing view to relax to.
Friday morning we woke up at 6am and made the 3.5-hour drive to Yosemite National Park. My husband and I have never been and we want to make sure we had a day of outdoor fun. Funny story – my husband only packed one pair of shoes for the trip. He did this because when flying with Spirit you have to pay for a carry on so we somehow squished all of our belongings into a “personal item”. The shoes he brought were a pair of comfortable but decent good-looking shoes – we end up going on a 5 mile off the trail hike where his shoes become increasingly more and more dirty haha! We ended up walking/hiking 9 miles Friday – it was amazing! We saw Half Dome, Yosemite Falls (the tallest in North America) and Mirror Lake. Did I also mention we didn’t take water on our hike and it was 80 degrees that day?!
Saturday we headed to Napa! Our first stop was Domaine Carneros which is sparkling wines/champagne. We then visited Stag’s Leap and Mumm Napa which were fantastic.
Sunday we headed into San Francisco to visit my Uncle Michael and cousin Liz. They spent the day showing us around different parts of the city such as a quick hike around Land’s End and the Mission District.
Monday was our plane ride home so before our afternoon flight we headed back into SF where Austin and I visited the best bakery ever, Tartine, and I shopped at literally the coolest and most tech advanced store I’ve ever been in – Reformation. Ladies, Reformation was amazing. When you walk in you notice an open floor plan where racks of clothing have just one size of each style on the rack. You find what you like and tell the sales associate that is around that you would like to try this on in a small and this in a size 4 etc. You place the clothing back on the floor racks. When your fitting room is ready they let you know. Here comes the cool part. Once in the fitting room they have different lighting you can choose from for whatever fits your mood or skin tone. They have a cord to plug in your IPhone and listen to your favorite jams while trying stuff on! The clothing that you want to try on is all placed within this closet in your fitting room. If you need an additional size or would like to try on other things there is a touchscreen TV in your fitting room, probably 40 inches, that you scroll through the website and click “try on.” Close the closet doors in your fitting room and a sales associate places your new items in your closet. The TV then tells you to open your closet and that the new clothing items are available to try on. Can you believe that? I’ve never had such a cool shopping experience as that and on top of it all the sales associates were very friendly and the clothing is fashion forward while also being eco-friendly. I purchased this and this and can’t wait to show you in future blog posts! In the meantime check out their website here. I was my normal sizes.
Happy Monday! I’m currently sitting lakeside this weekend. We haven’t been out once this whole summer so I’ve been dying to come. The lake is my absolute favorite place. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in Oklahoma or what but there’s something about being out at the lake that makes me feel like I’m escaping life even if just for a day or two. Don’t we all need relaxation every once in awhile?
This has been such a fun post. I recently purchased THESE converse and was wondering how I was going to style them. I loved the idea from other bloggers with taking a pair of white sneakers and throwing it together with a dress or skirt. It seems very 80s or 90s to me! Speaking of 90s, MY choker necklace is back in style. If someone would’ve told me this at the age of 7 they’d be cool again I would’ve kept a few! I loved them growing up and I think it’s so cool that things like white sneakers and choker necklaces we wore as kids are back in style today as adults. This skirt was a recent find from the TopShop collection. I love the cut-out lace detailing. I chose to dress it down in a fun way. This is a perfect summer wear! What are your thoughts on my 90s vibe summer outfit?

Happy Monday… I feel like I should stop saying that. Let’s be honest, most Mondays, at least Monday mornings are not all that happy. You’re dreaming of the past weekend and already plotting next weekend’s adventures. That’s why I bring you this every Monday. I hope to inspire your Monday Blues with a touch of happiness, creativity, or inspiration for the week to come. I post on Mondays because we all need an escape sometimes. With that being said, happy Monday!
For those of you who keep up with the world of style and fashion you know that the colors of 2016 include Rose Quartz and Serenity. A few of you may have scoffed at the idea of this, but the vision behind these colorings were to find colors that make us feel comfortable; who doesn’t love that? I think the offset of pinks and blues is something to admire and maybe adopt into your own wardrobe this summer. I did and I’m glad, because and I’ve fallen in love with this coloring combo. Check out examples here of how to wear your Colors of The Year best. Oh and I wanted to let you guys know that I picked my cute tank up from Urban Outfitters for $7! So if you’re in the Tulsa area, stop by and try this super comfy tank on. I’ve linked a few here, here and here.

My Spring-Style Floral Skater Dress
I never wait this late to write a post! It’s 10pm on a Sunday night and I just got home from Hop Jam, where we got to see some friends play, along with the folk/hippie band, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s (so fun). My feet are swollen and I’m covered in a layer of sweat, SO gross! This weekend was full of festival fun.
I’ve been waiting a few weeks to share THIS DRESS (similar here) from our local Dolce Vita with you guys! Ahh, another one of those pieces I fell in love with so so quickly once stumbling upon! This floral print skater dress makes any body type look great; it hugs and flows in all the right places. This was my first skater-style dress purchase and I have to say I’m hooked. The closeness of the waist and the flowing bottom (my favorite) make me feel all the more girly, while the back makes the dress so unique for skater-style dresses. If you’re in the Tulsa area, stop by Dolce Vita and give this beauty a try-on! I’ve linked a couple very similar ones I love here and here.
See you next week loves!

I can’t believe it’s already been a month since I started the blog! Whoa. Time flies when you’re having fun!
This week’s post features my favorite skirt of all time. I purchased this piece from Dolce Vita a few weeks ago. Ladies, 70% of my clothing comes from this place. I’m OBSESSED. I receive so many compliments on every piece I purchase there! For those of you that personally know me, you know the likelihood of finding me in a skirt style like this is pretty high. I can’t stay away from these tea-length skirts (I’m up to about 10 now!) Skirts this length work for parties, work, church, along with most other outings. I just can’t resist. The floral coloring on this skirt yells spring so I knew it’d be perfect for this time of year.
I’d also like to point out with this week’s blog post, the use of colors in your style. For a while I believed that my outfits needed to match color to a T… False. For instance, if I wore a skirt, my top, shoes, and accessories would need to match one of the same colors. But now I have come to learn that having style doesn’t mean your entire outfit matches, it simply means expressing yourself through your clothing with confidence and an array of colors. For example, if you are wearing a pair of green pants go for a blue or pink top. And when is a better time to do that than in Spring? See you next Monday!
